What is Experiental Animation?

Animating has been one of my passions ever since I can remember, however after working for many years doing animation for tv commercials I discovered that I was missing an important part of the pleasure of animating, I remember while in college to sit in front of the light table and animate for hours without feeling the time go by, but now working for the industry, those magical moments were gone.
Very soon I realized that I was more focused on the final product than in doing the animation itself, actually doing the animation had become a secondary part of the process, this was very unfortunate since I always liked doing the animation better than watching it or watching other people animations.
Experiential Animation is about the process of animating, it focuses in discovery and observation rather than any strict laws of commercial animation. Experiential Animation emphasizes the experience of animating that’s why the final product is almost irrelevant, only an evidence of that process.
Experiential Animation is about your creative process, about learning, seeing, discovering and feeling, it’s about enjoying the moment and translating that into the screen using one of the many techniques available for us in the magic area of Animation.
